Note to the TTC

I was originally going to start a watchdog-like blog to voice my displeasure with the TTC. Simply stated, public transit needs to get better in Toronto.

I rely on the TTC every day, I live downtown and don’t own a car. One of the most stressful aspects of my life is taking the subway or streetcar. It’s stupid busy, it’s not reliable, it’s not enjoyable.

I make sure to give myself extra time to make appointments in time because I can’t rely on the TTC. The number of delays between stops or train service disruptions is far too familiar on a frequent basis.

This is what my commute home resembled at the Yonge and Dundas stop going Northbound every single evening.

So packed, hundreds of people jammed right to the door with hundreds of more commuters still waiting sometimes 10 trains or more before giving up.

At many subway stops .. They are old, broken and unsafe. Walls are falling apart, leaks are everywhere. It certainly doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about the TTC as I would prefer a clean, brightly lit and secure experience.

I went through a bunch of videos on YouTube to help make my case. I think you’ll find this video rings true for thousands of commuters every day.

No this is NOT me and it DOES contain profanity.

Please TTC, make it better please.
